The NBA action continues on Monday, February 6, with an eight-game slate including this tilt in Detroit, so make sure you don’t miss out on the best Celtics vs. Pistons betting pick and odds.

Boston is hoping to return to winning ways when they visit Detroit at Little Caesars Arena. The Celtics are 11-point favorites on BetUS Sportsbook, while the total is set at 229 points. These conference rivals will meet for the third time this season; the Celtics lead the series 2-0.

Celtics’ offense didn’t click against the Suns

The Boston Celtics (37-16, 26-26-1 ATS) were on a four-game home stand and a two-game winning run but failed to make it three in a row as the Phoenix Suns prevented them with a 106-94 win. It was one of the worst Celtics’ offensive displays of the campaign in which they couldn’t score more than 29 points in any quarter. Boston was miserable from the field (38.7%), and although they made 26 free throws opposite Phoenix’s 12, the Celtics were inferior in rebounds (43-53) and assists (18-28), while they committed 15 turnovers and forced nine on the other end.

Jaylen Brown led the C’s with a game-high 27 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and game-high three steals. Jayson Tatum had a 20/6/5 line but shot only 3-15 from the floor, while Derrick White and Malcolm Brogdon combined for 31 points and nine boards.

SF Danilo Gallinari (ACL) and PG Marcus Smart (ankle) are out indefinitely and will not play on Monday in Detroit.

Pistons didn’t have a chance against Phoenix

The Detroit Pistons (14-40, 23-28-3 ATS) have one thing in common with the Boston Celtics – they both lost to the Phoenix Suns in their last respective games. The Pistons did beat the Charlotte Hornets before that defeat but didn’t have a chance against the Suns at home as Phoenix celebrated a comfortable 116-100 victory. Detroit will conclude its four-game homestay with a game against Boston and then will play four of the next five games on the road. The Pistons allowed 56.0% from the field to the Suns, while the visitors were better in rebounds (46-30) and assists (34-23).

Saddiq Bey led the Pistons with 25 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Bojan Bogdanovic scored 23 points, Isaiah Stewart had 17 points and team-high nine boards, while Jaden Ivey added 13 points, team-high six dimes, and game-high three thefts.

PF/C Marvin Bagley III (hand) and PG Cade Cunningham (shin) are out indefinitely. PG Cory Joseph (back) is questionable to feature on Monday against the Celtics.

Trends:

Boston:

  • 6-2-1 ATS in the last nine games vs. a team with a winning % below .400

Detroit:

  • 4-9 ATS in the last 13 games overall
  • 1-6 ATS in the last seven home games
  • 1-6 ATS in the last seven games playing on one day of rest

Boston Celtics vs. Detroit Pistons Pick

Following a weak offensive display in a loss to the Suns, I am fully backing the Celtics and Jayson Tatum, before all, to bounce back with a bang in Detroit. The Celtics have the third-best offense in the NBA that scores 117.7 points per game and are facing the second-worst defense in the league that allows 119.8 ppg. Boston scored 128 and 117 points in two respective games against the Pistons this season, and I’d be surprised if the visitors don’t score 120+ here. Expect Boston’s response on Monday.

Pick: Take the Celtics at -9.5 (-133)

The Total

I already said I expect the Celtics to score at least 120 points in this one, so it’s natural that I anticipate a high-scoring affair. Boston’s defense allows 111.9 points per game, while Detroit is scoring 112.5 ppg, which means the hosts should be good enough for around 110 points on Monday. Over is 3-0-2 in the last five H2H meetings; Over is 12-2-2 in the Celtics’ previous 16 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400, while Over is 7-3-2 in the Pistons’ last 12 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.

Pick: Go Over 228.5 points (-130)
