The NFL betting action goes on Sunday, October 3, 2021, with Week 4 matchups around the country, so here’s the best Washington Football Team vs. Atlanta Falcons betting pick along with the latest odds update for this NFC showdown at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Washington opened as a slight 1.5-point road fave on MyBookie Sportsbook. The Falcons are +105 moneyline dogs, while the totals sit at 47.5 points. These two foes meet for the first time since 2018, and Atlanta is 6-0 straight up and 4-2 ATS over its previous six encounters with Washington.

FT’s defense fell apart in Week 3

Washington (1-2; 0-3 ATS) returned to the losing track last Sunday, suffering a heavy 43-21 defeat at Buffalo as a 7-point road dog. Through the first two weeks of the new season, Ron Rivera’s boys have recorded a 20-16 defeat to the LA Chargers and a 30-29 victory to the New York Giants.

Their defense completely fell apart in a tough matchup with the Bills. Washington yielded 29 1st downs and 481 total yards, and the Bills went 4-for-6 in the red zone. The Football Team held the ball in possession for nearly 25 minutes while rushing for only 78 yards on 25 attempts.

Taylor Heinicke had a bad day in the office at Buffalo, throwing for 212 yards and a couple of touchdowns and interceptions. He completed just 14 of his 24 passing attempts, while Antonio Gibson turned his lone reception to a 73-yard touchdown. Washington has struggled to run the ball thus far, averaging 97.0 rushing yards per game (21st in the NFL).

Atlanta snapped a seven-game skid last Sunday

The Atlanta Falcons (1-2; 1-2 ATS) are coming off a 17-14 victory at the New York Giants in Week 3. They put an end to a seven-game losing streak, playing as 2.5-point road dogs at MetLife Stadium. Matt Ryan threw for 243 yards and a couple of touchdowns, while Younghoe Koo made the game-winning field goal as the time expired.

The Falcons managed to bounce back from a couple of heavy losses. They were humiliated by the Philadelphia Eagles in the opener, 32-6, while Week 2 saw the Falcons suffering another heavy defeat at Tampa Bay, 48-25.

Atlanta is racking up only 82.7 rushing yards per contest (28th in the NFL). On the other side of the ball, the Falcons are surrendering 255.3 yards through the air (17th) and 118.3 on the ground per contest (19th).

Trends:

Washington:

  • 4-1-1 ATS in the last six games played in October
  • 10-5-1 ATS in the last 16 road games as favorites

Atlanta:

  • 4-14 ATS in the last 18 games played in October
  • 2-10 ATS in the last 12 outings in Week 4

Washington Football Team vs. Atlanta Falcons Pick

If you like betting the NFL teasers, I suggest you take Washington in Week 4. This clash could easily go either way, as both teams have plenty of problems on both sides of the ball, but I think there’s no way that someone will win it comfortably.

I lean the visitors mostly because of their talented defense that will improve after a couple of poor displays. We should get a hard-fought battle down the stretch, so taking Washington as a 3-point dog seems like the best move.

Pick: Take Washington Football Team +3.0 at -180

The Total:

The under has hit in ten of Washington’s last 11 outings in October. Ron Rivera was undoubtedly furious following a Week 3 loss at the Bills, and I’m expecting a much better display this time around. The Falcons, on the other side, has been pretty much awful offensively thus far, so give me the under on the totals.

Seven of Atlanta’s last ten games went in the under, as well as six of Washington’s previous nine outings at any location.

Pick: Go under 47.5 points at -110
