Every other sport-specific betting community on Reddit is small. NFL has under 14,000 members. Hockey has 10,000. Basketball and college football have none at all.
r/SoccerBetting has 143,869, and it is active every single day. It is not the biggest by a little. It is the biggest by a factor of three over the next sport-specific community on the platform.
Why soccer is the exception
Two reasons, both obvious once stated.
The first is that soccer is global and the others are not. American football, basketball and hockey draw from one country plus enthusiasts. Soccer draws from everywhere, and the betting culture in Europe, Africa, Asia and South America is older and more embedded than the post-2018 American one.
The second is the calendar. There is always a match. The European season runs from August to May, and when it stops there are international tournaments, summer competitions and leagues in other hemispheres. A daily thread never runs out of material, unlike hockey in July.

Separating the picks from the venting is a small structural decision that does a lot of work. The main thread stays readable because the emotional content has somewhere else to go. Most betting communities do not do this, and most betting communities are harder to read as a result.

What it covers well, and what it does not
The depth is concentrated where you would expect: the Premier League, Champions League, La Liga, Serie A, and major international tournaments. Ask about a Bundesliga total and you will get several considered answers.
Go further down and it thins out quickly. Second and third tier leagues, smaller confederations and minor cup competitions get much less attention, which mirrors what happens at the sportsbooks themselves.
