Short answer: no. Both of them are gone, and nothing replaced them. Here is where NBA bettors actually ended up.
This is one of the odder gaps on Reddit. The NBA is one of the most heavily bet leagues in the world, it has a huge and extremely online fanbase, and it has no working betting community at all.
We checked both candidates individually on 17 August 2026, because bulk checks return stale data. Here is what came back.

Plenty of lists still recommend the first one. That is because Reddit’s bulk lookup returns a cached record for banned communities, member count included, so a dead sub looks perfectly healthy in a spreadsheet. Where NBA bettors actually went
The r/sportsbook daily threads
r/sportsbook, 616,065 members, is where the volume is. From late October through June the basketball conversation runs inside the dated daily threads, principally Pick of the Day and Parlay of the Day, and the props thread that switches from baseball to basketball once the season is underway.

r/sportsbetting
r/sportsbetting, 580,826 members, does allow standalone posts. If you want to ask a specific question about a number and have somebody answer it, this is the practical choice.
The pick’em communities
NBA player props are enormous, and most of that conversation has moved to the app communities: r/PrizePicks with 125,001 members and r/underdogfantasy with 47,417. Both are busy through the NBA season. Both are also single-app communities, so read them with that in mind.
What about the team subreddits?
r/nba and the individual team communities are fan spaces rather than betting spaces. You will find game threads and argument, and very little about numbers. Posting a bet slip in one is a good way to be ignored at best.
Why did the NBA betting subs die?
Reddit does not publish reasons, so nobody can say for certain. The general pattern across banned betting communities is consistent though: small sport-specific subs are attractive targets for pick sellers, moderation gets overwhelmed or abandoned, and Reddit eventually treats the result as a spam operation. The larger communities survive precisely because they enforce hard anti-touting rules, which we cover in why you cannot sell picks on Reddit.
There is also a simpler force at work. When r/sportsbook runs good daily NBA threads for 616,065 members, a separate 8,000-member community has to justify its existence, and most of them could not.
If you are betting the NBA
The thing the daily threads will not tell you consistently is which book to have the account at, and for basketball specifically the differences are real: full-game markets are broadly similar across books, but prop limits, alternate lines and live pricing vary a lot.
