The general daily fantasy community was banned and nothing replaced it. What is left is a scattering of app communities and a couple of small independents.
Daily fantasy is the most fragmented category on Reddit. There is no central community, the obvious general names are banned or locked, and most of the volume sits inside communities operated around a single app.
That is worth understanding before you go looking, because it explains why the search results are so much worse here than for sports betting.
First, the split nobody explains
Two different things get called DFS, and the communities for them barely overlap.
Salary-cap DFS is the original format. You get a budget, you fill a roster, you compete against a field of other entrants in a tournament or cash game. Skill is in roster construction and understanding ownership.
Pick’em is the newer format that now dominates the conversation. You pick a handful of players to go over or under a projected number, and the payout scales with how many you get right. Structurally it has more in common with a parlay than with a salary-cap contest.
Almost all the Reddit activity is pick’em. If you are looking for salary-cap lineup discussion, you will find much less of it than you expect, and most of what exists is in sport-specific fantasy communities rather than DFS ones.

r/PrizePicks and r/underdogfantasy are communities built around a single commercial product. That does not make them dishonest, and plenty of criticism gets posted in both. It does mean the baseline assumption in the room is that the product is worth using, and you will not find a serious argument for not playing at all. Read them for slate discussion, not for a verdict on whether the format is good for you.
What each is actually good for
Slate discussion and injury news. The app communities are genuinely fast on this. If a starter is scratched, the thread knows before most news alerts fire.
Correlation and lineup construction. Better in the independent communities, where people are less focused on posting screenshots and more on the reasoning.
Complaints and account issues. The app communities are where withdrawal problems, account limits and grading disputes surface first. This is the same pattern we see with single-book betting communities, covered in our piece on r/SportsbookReview and the payout complaint boards.
Results screenshots. Unavoidable, and you will need to scroll past a lot of them. Nobody posts the losing slips.
Why the category never consolidated
Sports betting has two large general communities that absorb everything. DFS does not, and the reason is that the products are not interchangeable in the way sportsbooks are.
If you bet the NFL you might hold accounts at four books and talk about all of them in one thread. Pick’em players tend to use one app, the slates and multipliers differ between apps, and a discussion about a specific board is only useful to people on that app. That pushes conversation into brand communities by default, and brand communities are run by the brand.
The banning of r/dfsports removed the one place with a reason to be neutral, and nothing has grown into the gap. If you want cross-product discussion, r/sportsbook and r/sportsbetting pick up a fair amount of pick’em talk, particularly around props, and neither has a stake in which app you use.
