The second week of the new NBA season will start on Monday, October 24, with this clash in New York, so make sure you check out the best Magic vs. Knicks betting pick and odds.
Orlando is looking for the first win of the season when they visit New York at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks are -7.5 favorites on Jazz Sportsbook, while the total is set at 219 points. These conference rivals have met four times last season, and that series was tied at 2-2.
Magic lost the opening three games of the season
The Orlando Magic (0-3, 1-2 ATS) returned home for the first game of the campaign in front of their crowd after losing to the Detroit Pistons and Atlanta Hawks on the road. The Magic fought bravely against the Boston Celtics but lost 126-120 in the end. Orlando was tied with Boston in almost every segment, but the fact the hosts had just 65.2% from the free throw line cost them.
Terrence Ross led the Magic with 29 points and four rebounds. The No. 1 pick overall from the 2022 NBA Draft, Paolo Banchero, followed with 23 points and five boards; Franz Wagner had 18 points and six rebounds, Cole Anthony added 14 points, nine boards, and six assists, while Wendell Carter Jr. posted a double-double of 15 points, game-high 12 rebounds, and five dishes.
SG Gary Harris (knee) and PF Jonathan Isaac (knee) are out indefinitely. PF Moritz Wagner (foot), PG Jalen Suggs (ankle), and PG Markelle Fultz (toe) are questionable to face the Knicks on Monday.
Knicks dismantled the Pistons at home
The New York Knicks (1-1, 2-0 ATS) bounced back from an overtime loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on the road with a massive 130-106 home victory over the Detroit Pistons. The Knicks had a 20-point lead at halftime and it was evident they are going to get a comfortable win. New York’s perimeter defense did a great job by limiting the Pistons to 25.0% from beyond the arc.
Immanuel Quickley led the Knicks with 20 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists off the bench. RJ Barrett scored 18 points with four dimes; Jalen Brunson contributed with 17 points and six assists, while Julius Randle had 15 points and six dishes.
SG Quentin Grimes is out of the lineup with left foot soreness, and he is without a definitive timetable for recovery.
- 5-11 ATS in the last 16 games overall
- 0-4 ATS in the last four road games
- 0-5 ATS in the last four games following an ATS win
- 4-0 ATS in the last four games overall
- 10-4 ATS in the last 14 games following an ATS win
- 7-1 ATS in the last eight games after scoring more than 125 points in their previous game
Orlando Magic vs. New York Knicks Pick
The Knicks have a better team, and what’s more important, they are more experienced than the young Magic squad. Orlando has a lot of talented players on the roster such as rookie Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, and Cole Anthony, among others, and the time is on their side. Another losing season is expected for the Magic, while the Knicks are seen as one of the teams who will reach the playoffs or at least a play-in in the East this year. The Knicks showed in Memphis they mean business despite a tight OT loss and impressed against Detroit, so I am backing Tom Thibodeau’s boys here.
Pick: Take the Knicks at -6.5 (-135)
Orlando scored even 120 points against one of the best defenses in the NBA – the Boston Celtics, and I am pretty sure they can score 105+ against New York. The Knicks allowed 105+ points in each of their two games thus far, but they also scored 112+ in each. Over is 5-1 in the Magic’s last 6 games following an ATS win; Over is 24-10 in the Knicks’ previous 34 games following a straight-up win of more than ten points, while Over is 4-1 in New York’s last five games playing on two days of rest.
Pick: Go Over 2017.5 points (-125)
