Miami Dolphins vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Odds, Pi

Week 6 of the 2021 NFL season continues Sunday, October 17, with the AFC showdown at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, UK, so we bring you the best Miami Dolphins vs. Jacksonville Jaguars betting pick, tips, and odds.

The kick-off is set at 9:30 PM ET, and the Dolphins are listed as 3.5-point favorites on BetUs Sportsbook. The Jaguars are +165 moneyline underdogs, while the totals sit at 47.0 points. Miami is 4-2 straight up and ATS in its last six matchups with Jacksonville and the Fins smashed the Jags in 2020, 31-13, playing as 2.5-point road dogs.

The Dolphins are in big trouble

After nearly reaching the playoffs in 2020, the Miami Dolphins had big hopes for 2021. However, after the first five weeks of the new season, the Fins are 1-4 SU and 2-3 ATS, so Sunday’s clash in London will have a lot at stake for Brian Flores’ boys.

Last weekend, Miami extended its losing streak to four games with a heavy 45-17 defeat at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Dolphins allowed a whopping 558 total yards while racking up just 301 in a return. Jacoby Brissett tossed for 275 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception, whilst RB Miles Gaskin had ten receptions for 74 yards and a couple of scores.

Miami missed QB Tua Tagovailoa and WR DeVante Parker, who are both questionable to play against the Jags in London. The Fins are tallying only 15.8 points per game (31st in the NFL) on 261.8 total yards (also 31st). They are yielding 30.8 points in a return (30th), as the Dolphins’ defense is one of the biggest disappointments of the season.

The Jaguars are winless in 20 games in a row

The Jacksonville Jaguars (0-5; 1-4 ATS) are coming off a 37-19 home loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 5. It was their 20th defeat on the spin, and the Jaguars once more showed a lot of flaws in their defense.

Jacksonville racked up 454 total yards and surrendered 368 in a return, but that was enough for the Titans and Derrick Henry, who tortured the Jags for 130 rushing yards and three touchdowns. James Robinson led the way for Jacksonville with 18 carries for 149 yards and a TD, while Trevor Lawrence went 23-of-33 for 273 yards, a TD, and an interception.

The Jaguars are scoring 18.6 points per game (28th in the league) on 129.4 rushing yards (6th) and 218.6 passing yards (27th). They are yielding 30.4 points in a return (29th) on 121.8 rushing yards (20th) and 286.6 passing yards (25th).

Trends:

Miami:

  • 6-0 ATS in the last six outings in Week 6
  • 4-2 ATS in the last six games against Jacksonville

Jacksonville:

  • 2-7 ATS in the last nine games overall
  • 0-5 ATS in the last five games played in October

Miami Dolphins vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Pick

When a couple of bad teams lock horns at the neutral site, the best move is to stay away from the side bet. On paper, Miami is a better team even if Tua Tagovailoa remains sidelined, but it won’t mean a thing if the Fins continue to play lousy defense.

Last year, Miami’s scoring D was tied with New Orleans for the fifth-best in the NFL, allowing just 21.1 points per game. This is a huge opportunity for redemption, but the Dolphins will also have to get things going offensively against another leaky defensive team.

Pick: Take Miami Dolphins -3.5 at -110

The Total:

Miami and Jacksonville both have struggled to stop rushing so far this season. They surrender 400-plus total yards per game each, so my best Dolphins vs. Jaguars betting pick is the over on the totals. Despite their offensive woes, these two foes shouldn’t have problems moving the ball against each other.

The over is 5-2 in the Fins’ last seven games overall, and it is 4-1 in their previous five outings away from home. Also, ten of the Jaguars’ last 14 encounters with the AFC East went in the over.

Pick: Go over 47.0 points at -110
