Another inter-conference clash in the NBA will take place on Monday, January 30, and here you can see the best Pistons vs. Mavericks betting pick and odds.

Detroit is going on a one-game road trip when they visit Dallas at American Airlines Center. The Mavericks are 8-point favorites on BookMaker Sportsbook, while the total is set at N/A points. These inter-conference rivals have met once this year, and the Pistons won 131-125 in overtime in Detroit.

Pistons fell short of the Rockets at home

The Detroit Pistons (13-38, 21-27-3 ATS) managed to snap a four-game losing skid with a surprising 130-122 road victory over the Brooklyn Nets but returned to losing ways at home against the Houston Rockets. The Pistons shot 45.8% from the floor and despite making 14 three-pointers opposite Houston’s eight, the visitors dominated the boards (48-35) even though they played without Alperen Sengun. After this defeat, Detroit is only a win above the Rockets, who have the worst record in the entire NBA.

Alec Burks led the Pistons with 21 points. Bojan Bogdanovic scored 18, Jaden Ivey added 16 points, a team-high seven rebounds, and five assists, Hamidou Diallo had 15 points and career-high five steals, while Saddiq Bey contributed ten points and six boards.

PG Cory Joseph (back), PF/C Marvin Bagley III (hand), and PG Cade Cunningham (shin) are out indefinitely and will not play on Monday against Dallas.

Mavericks lost to the Jazz on the road

The Dallas Mavericks (26-25, 17-32-2 ATS) are going through a rough period of the season as they lost nine of the previous 12 games. The Mavericks upset the Phoenix Suns in a low-scoring affair on the road, but they couldn’t repeat that success against the Utah Jazz as the Jazz were better 108-100. Dallas was playing without injured Luka Doncic and shot only 43.8% from the field and even the fact that the Mavs made 18 triples opposite Utah’s 13 didn’t help the visitors to avoid a defeat. The Jazz controlled the rebounds (49-31) and deserved to get a W.

Spencer Dinwiddie led the Mavs with a game-high 35 points, team-high eight assists, and four rebounds. Reggie Bullock added 19 points and five boards, Dorian Finney-Smith contributed 11 points, team-high nine rebounds, four dimes, and two steals, while Josh Green had 11 points and five dishes.

C Christian Wood (thumb) and PF/C Maxi Kleber (hamstring) are out indefinitely. PG Luka Doncic (ankle) is questionable to feature on Monday against the Pistons.

Trends:

  • 3-12-1 ATS in the last 16 games playing on one day of rest

Detroit Pistons vs. Dallas Mavericks Pick

While the rivals have similar offenses when it comes to points per game, the Mavericks do have a way stronger defense. The Mavs’ D is 8th in the NBA as it allows 112.1 points per contest opposite the Pistons’ that surrenders 120.2 ppg, which is the second-worst D in the league. Even if the hosts play without Luka Doncic, the Mavs are a better team and they have enough firepower to outclass the Pistons. Spencer Dinwiddie is usually displaying superb performances when Doncic is sidelined, and if the Slovenian wizard is unavailable to play, I am backing Dinwiddie to lead Dallas to a win.

Pick: Take the Mavericks at -6.5 (-133)

The Total

Dallas’ offense with and without Doncic is completely different. In case Luka is sidelined on Monday, I expect to see a low-scoring affair and I wouldn’t be even surprised if one of the teams fails to reach a 100-point mark. The Mavs failed to score more than 100 points in three of their previous four games, and although Detroit didn’t have such a problem recently, the visitors will face a sturdy defense here. Under is 5-2 in the last seven H2H meetings in Dallas, while Under is 4-1 in the Mavericks’ previous five overall.

Pick: Go Under N/A points
