One of the most intriguing NCAAB games scheduled for Thursday, March 2, will be played between these conference rivals, so make sure you don’t miss out on the best Sun Devils vs. Bruins betting pick and odds.
UCLA is searching for the ninth straight victory when they welcome Arizona State at State Farm Center. The Bruins are 13-point favorites on BetUS Sportsbook, while the total is set at 134 points. These Pac-12 foes will meet for the second time this season; the Bruins won 74-62 in Arizona.
Sun Devils beat Arizona with a half-court buzzer-beater
The Arizona State Sun Devils (20-9, 13-15-1 ATS) won four of their last five games; they bounced back from a home defeat to the Colorado Buffaloes with a pair of wins over the Utah Utes and Arizona Wildcats. The latter against the in-state rivals Arizona was perhaps the sweetest this season as it came as time expired with a three-pointer from beyond the mid-court. Desmond Cambridge Jr. hit a long jumper to give the Sun Devils an 89-88 road victory. Arizona State shot 53.7% from the field and had more assists than the Wildcats (23-16).
Senior guard Desmond Cambridge Jr. led the Sun Devils with 19 points, four rebounds, and four assists. DJ Horne added 18 points and game-high seven dishes, Warren Washington scored 16 points, Jamiya Neal contributed 12 points, five rebounds, and game-high three steals off the bench, while Alonzo Gaffney had ten points and a couple of thefts.
F Marcus Bagley (disciplinary) is out for the season and will not play on Thursday against UCLA.
Bruins edged Colorado on the road
The No. 4 UCLA Bruins (25-4, 16-12-1 ATS) returned home from a two-game road trip with victories against the Utah Utes and Colorado Buffaloes. The Bruins are now on an eight-game winning streak and will conclude the regular season with two games at home against Arizona State and Arizona. The most recent win was a tight one against the Colorado Buffaloes. Although the Bruins displayed one of their weakest offensive performances of the campaign and made just one triple from 14 attempts (7.1%), they did limit the Buffaloes to 33.3% from the floor. UCLA showed a strong D in the second half and celebrated a 60-56 win in the end.
Senior guard Jaime Jaquez Jr. led the Bruins with 17 points and five rebounds. Tyger Campbell chipped in 14 points, six boards, and game-high three steals, while Amari Bailey scored 11. UCLA’s bench contributed miserable two points in 46 combined minutes on the floor, but that didn’t cost the Bruins in Colorado and they claimed the Pac-12 regular season title.
- 4-1 SU in the last five games
- 5-2 SU in the last seven games against the Pac-12 rivals
- 1-4-1 ATS in the last six games vs. a team with a winning straight-up record
- 1-3-1 ATS in the last five Thursday games
Arizona State Sun Devils vs. UCLA Bruins Pick
In other circumstances, I’d back the Bruins to get a comfortable victory. However, the Bruins clinched the regular season title in the Pac-12 with two games to go, and I am pretty sure head coach Mick Cronin wouldn’t want to unnecessarily risk his star players. Arizona State is playing well on the road this season and recorded three consecutive wins away from home and is fighting to end among the top four teams in the conference. UCLA won 11 of the last 12 H2H games at home, and even though I think the hosts will get another W, I am going with the Sun Devils to cover.
Pick: Take the Sun Devils at +15.5 (-130)
The Bruins have a top-10 defense that allows 59.7 points per game, but I do believe they will be more lenient in this game and will relax a bit after winning the regular season conference title. UCLA allowed 71+ points only once in the previous eight games, and even if the visitors fail to score 70+ here, I think they will do enough offensively for the Over bettors. Over is 13-6 in the Sun Devils’ last 19 overall; Over is 7-2 in Arizona State’s previous nine road games, while Over is 5-0 in the Bruins’ last five vs. a team with a winning straight-up record.
Pick: Go Over 132.5 points (-130)
